The Island Donabate, County Dublin, Ireland
For a long time the only way to get to The Island Links was by boat before a causeway road was built. The golf links are located in sand dunes more similar to that found on the north, west or south west coasts of Ireland than its east coast. The result is not surprisingly a course with a raw links feel with many elevation changes. The natural defenses here mean there is little requirement for bunkers or other man made hazards. The course is gaining deservedly in reputation and was the venue for the 1999 PGA Championship of Ireland and is a regional qualifying venue for The Open Championsip. If in the Dublin area this course should be on your list.
